Mask Mandate: Three years of masking in Digital Fabrication

In light of world events over the last few years we have a newfound relationship with face coverings. Masks have existed as cultural objects for thousands of years, though their intended purposes are varied and unique. A mask may be an object of ritual or an object of play; a mask may be a fashion statement or a life-saving device; a mask may be designed to protect or to confine. 

The Digital Fabrication class in the School of Art & Design asks that students reconsider their relationship with masks and wearable artwork.

The exhibition will run until September 26th with the public reception being hosted on September 18th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. We hope to see you there!

What is IGG?

Intermedia Gallery Group (IGG) is a dynamic, student-run, organization at Eastern. Our mission is to cultivate an inclusive and hands-on environment where students can gain real-world experience that goes beyond the studio. By spearheading exhibitions and curating events, we offer unique, hands-on opportunities to develop skills in art curation, event planning, and creative collaboration, all within a supportive and open environment.

How Can I Get Involved?

Intermedia Gallery Group is always excited to welcome new members, and you don’t have to be an art major to join! The easiest way to get involved is by volunteering as a Gallery Guard for one of our exhibitions, a great way to connect with the community and support our shows. If you’re looking for even more responsibility and creativity, you can take it a step further and become an IGG Board Member, helping to lead and shape the future of our gallery.  

Where is the Gallery Located?

Our gallery is located on the second floor of the Student Center across from the Marketplace. When you walk through the double doors, our gallery will be located on the right in room 236. Look for a sign that directs you towards the gallery!

So, about our gallery hours

Being that IGG is a student-ran group, our gallery hours vary based on student schedules and availability. Hours change with each show due to our students tending to their academic responsibilities. Gallery Hours for current shows are posted on our webpage as soon as possible. These hours are also sent out to students and faculty members, posted to our Instagram, and on our gallery window.

Our gallery is closed during semester breaks.

Our gallery is open over the summer!

Our gallery is usually open from 10 am - 6 pm, Monday through Friday!

Closed over the weekend.
