Visual Visage

What the artworks convey is my wholesome love expressed towards my family, as well as my interests in emotions from various kinds of faces and expressions. My drawings express different kinds of emotions through the facial features and expressions shown within each artwork. My regular process on drawing them out is glancing through photographs of my family members and other people to visualize their image through my drawings. This way, I could transfer the imagery from the photographs into my mind, and then draw out the faces using my own art style. Visualizing a person’s face by both appearance and facial features expresses itself in several ways which I find beautiful. Joy, anger, sorrow, and all kinds of emotions shown in different peoples’ expressions are what I find not just beautiful but endearing as well. Any expressions shown within the photographs I used for my drawings were beautiful to me, because of their emotional traits shown. There’s always something very powerful when it came to distinctive and unique emotions, even more so when they’re conveyed through many kinds of people. For instance, someone crying could indicate sorrow, a raging expression could convey the desire for violence, and a dazzling smile presented is a clear manifestation of happiness. What I consider interesting about details throughout the facial features isn’t just how meaningful they can be, but that even the smallest of facial details has some lore behind them. In many cases, scars on a person’s face indicates that they obtained them through battles or incidents as well as a solemn vow not to repeat the same mistakes twice. Freckles could demonstrate a cute, child-like innocence. Due to the amount of detail the realistic drawings expose, they support the aspects of a person’s facial and emotional features. Color would only hinder my drawings, as it would distract viewers from the drama of the expression.  Color isn’t necessary to emphasize in my works because I feel like it’s a more significant expression of oneself through the details within the artworks. My desires to witness various kinds of emotions, as well as my love for my family have led to the creation of my facial-themed artworks.
